A little bit of mystery mail appeared here at Rock Father HQ earlier today, with an unexpected delivery from the folks at Universal Studios. Inside the box was a 1980s-style metal lunchbox touting a character known as “Evil Bratt” (even stamped as “Official Bratt Merchandise”), complete with a Thermos and a piece of paper…
A print-out from a site called “Despikipedia” (the free evil encyclopedia), what I was looking at was background on the younger version of Balthazar Bratt, set to be voiced by South Park co-creator Trey Parker in next year’s Despicable Me 3. Sporting a hair cut that feels akin to Eugene on The Walking Dead, the young Bratt was said to be popular from 1983-1987 as the star of his own television show, inhabiting a title role that he literally outgrew. Years later, the grown Bratt faces off against Gru (Steve Carell).
While not much has been revealed about Despicable Me 3, it’s obvious that the secrets are starting to come out.
Despicable Me 3 is in theaters on June 30, 2017.
