It’s a growing phenomenon, but the face of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial has been making appearances in tree trunks with increasing frequency over the past few years. The latest such appearance comes from Scotland, where Billy Harley found one inside the trunk of a tree he was chopping for firewood. Harley, owner of the Uig Hotel on the Isle of Skye (whose publicist contacted Rock Father HQ this morning with the photo) recalls the moment he found the image of the lovable alien staring back at him…

“The weather has got a lot colder in the last week and I was getting some additional logs ready to keep the place warm for our guests. I put the chainsaw through a trunk and there was ET staring back at me. I phoned home and my wife brought a camera out to take some pictures.”Billy Harley

As for the future of the wooden E.T., Harley adds that “We’re not quite sure what to do now. We could turn ET into a coffee table or a bar stool maybe.”

After years of Jesus appearing in everything from trees to toast and cheetos to chips, perhaps E.T. is the latest evolution in a “looks like” culture that has even birthed an entire tumblr dedicated to “food that looks like Iggy Azalea.” E.Tree phone home, indeed…
