At the Chicago Toy & Game Fair the past few years, there’s been an organization present that makes incredibly detailed cardboard structures. In essence, they’re simply cardboard box forts, but with the type of ingenuity employed by whoever’s running Arby’s social networks (seriously, they might have “the meats,” but they also have “the papercraft”). One might wonder what surprises lurk inside these cardboard villages, and with that in mind DAVE MADE A MAZE might provide a possible answer. The film from Gravitas Ventures hits theaters and On-Demand on August 18, and today we have a trailer that you’re going to want to see. Check this out…
About the Film: Dave (Nick Thune, “Knocked Up”), a frustrated artist who has yet to accomplish anything significant in his career, builds a fort out of cardboard boxes in his living room, only to wind up trapped by the fantastical pitfalls and critters of his own creation. Ignoring his warnings, Dave’s girlfriend Annie (Meera Rohit Kumbhani, “The Mindy Project”) leads a band of oddball explorers (James Urbaniak, “Difficult People,” Kristen Vangsness, “Criminal Minds,” & Timothy Nordwind of OK Go) on a rescue mission. Upon entry, they find themselves in an ever-changing supernatural world, threatened by booby traps and pursued by a bloodthirsty Minotaur (John Hennigan, WWE champion “John Morrison”). Reimagining the classic 80’s adventure films with a modern comedic edge, the handmade fantasy world of DAVE MADE A MAZE comes to life with puppetry, stop-motion animation, and on-camera optical illusions.
