When it comes to the changes to George Lucas’ Original STAR WARS Trilogy, I tend to be pretty lenient in my opinions… when it comes down to the technical and visual stuff. When we get into issues of plot, thematic music, or worst-case scenario – an actor swap (sans placing Ian McDiarmid into EMPIRE – which I’m totally cool with), I get pretty irritated, especially when it comes to the end of RETURN OF THE JEDI. Inserting Hayden Christensen as the ghost/spirit of Anakin Skywalker into the Ewok Celebration is completely inexcusable. It was actor Sebastian Shaw that performed the character, and it was he who received the action figure treatment numerous times over the years, first happening with a Kenner POWER OF THE FORCE edition back in 1985. The only way to get it? Mail-in five proofs of purchase, just like my parents did. That figure is today’s entry into Hasbro’s Force Friday Countdown Calendar, appropriately falling on what would’ve been Shaw’s 110th birthday!
