I was really out of the STAR WARS collecting game when Hasbro began releasing their highly-detailed figures and vehicles under THE VINTAGE COLLECTION label a few years back, having also missed-out on THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY and SAGA Collections that preceded them. What particularly grabs me now are the vehicles – HUGE, mostly to-scale versions of the classics, finally in proper size. The one that I do have is THE VINTAGE COLLECTION Slave-1 (featured here), but I really wish I’d scored the AT-AT or one of today’s featured vehicles from Hasbro’s Force Friday Countdown Calendar – the X-Wing Fighter and Imperial TIE Fighter. These are featured as a nod to the birthday of John Dykstra, the ILM legend that took the lead in developing innovative techniques used during the first STAR WARS film.
