Hasbro’s KRE-O CityVille Invasion is Upon Us… and Chicago was Ground Zero

Last Friday night, my friends from Hasbro invited me down to The Hard Rock Cafe (oddly appropriate location) in Chicago for a special #HasbroParty. There, bloggers like myself got to go hands-on with some new and upcoming offerings like the new NERF Rebelle line, Furby Boom, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, TRANSFORMERS Rescue Bots, and more. While there was plenty of play to be had, it was hard not to notice that the bar had been completely taken over by the KRE-O CITYVILLE INVASION. Now, we’re already fans of the KRE-O line (check out this STAR TREK review), but I wasn’t really familiar with this whole “CityVille” deal until a bartender in full-on zombie makeup served me a vodka-heavy “Zombie Punch” from the KRE-O inspired drink menu.

docmayhemReleased last month as an App for iOS and Android (of course, I can’t play it since I use Windows Phone), the basic gist is that the CityVille S.O.S. Force has to take on the evil Dr. Mayhem and his evil forces with a goal of stopping them from conquering your city… and the world. Outside of the Apps from Zynga is an entire line of building sets under the Hasbro KRE-O banner.

WP 20130728 002In addition to the full-blown building sets, they’re doing the “blind bag” thing that’s all the rage these days, serving up two-packs of Kreon figures that help populate CityVille. I found a pack in my swag bag, and my official little builder, Addie, helped me crack it open. We built Hazmat Harry and Toxic Zombie in just a few moments, and they’re cool. What’s different about them is that they’re smaller than the regular Kreon figures and lack the articulation. In lieu of moving legs, the have tiny, stationary legs that attach to a “motion brick,” allowing the figures to glide along a base plate – an interesting concept.

WP 20130728 006If you’d like to load up on residents for your own CityVille, Entertainment Earth is offering full cases of the Blind Bags (and yes, I might make a little something off the affiliate links, which support this site) along with cool building sets like the Skyscraper Mayhem and Haunted Hideaway

Are any of you building or collecting these with your kids? If so, feel free to share some thoughts below.
