I had a weird connect-the-dots morning. In the car last night, the little ones and I were listening to the “Lithium” channel on SiriusXM, and the last song we heard was the old Juliana Hatfield track, “My Sister.” That song references The Del Fuegos, a band that split two decades ago and reunited earlier this year for a new collection of eight songs called SILVER STAR. By the time I fired up the email here at Rock Father HQ today, the first message I received was about a new Holiday release from acclaimed family/children’s musician Dan Zanes… also guitarist/vocalist of The Del Fuegos.
Originally a limited-release in 2011, CHRISTMAS IN CONCORD (Festival Five Records) has been updated with two brand-new tracks, and reissued digitally for 2012. The two new songs are collaborations with playwright Suzan-Lori Parks – “I’m Counting the Days (Until Christmas)” and an updated version of “Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow.”
The entire “mini-album” is a celebration of songs that have been a staple of the Holiday Season for years in Zanes’ hometown of Concord, NH.
CHRISTMAS IN CONCORD Tracklisting:
1. Joy to the World
2. Rise Up, Shepherd, and Follow
3. Deck the Halls
4. I’m Counting the Days (Until Christmas)
5. Angels We Have Heard on High
6. Silent Night
7. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear
