Made in the USA of U.S. and imported parts (the battery and electrical system is made in China), the Xtreme Cruiser seats one and has a weight limit of 81 lbs. The speed can be adjusted from 2.5 mph (4 kmh) to 5 mph (8 kmh) at the flick of a switch (smartly located under a cover that a grownup has to unscrew), we keep ours set on “High Speed” for five-year-old Addie and her friends, many of whom have taken turns speeding and spinning up and down the street, and around the cul-de-sac.
There’s no steering wheel here, as this 6×6 is joystick-controlled with “zero-turn” capability (turns on a dime, as they say) with various joystick combinations making forward, reverse, and full 360-degree turning in either direction possible. Of the six wheels, only the center two are powered, with the front and rear wheels touching the ground as the terrain changes.
In a lot of ways, the Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser reminds me of the sort of “futuristic” look of a few toys I had growing up (BIG TRAK comes to mind), and certainly the 70s Amphicat vehicles like The Banana Splits used to drive (if you recall those). While the Spin & Go Xtreme Cruiser certainly does have a rugged appearance, this vehicle is meant for dry conditions only (no water, no snow) and for use on level surfaces including short grass, dirt or pavement. It can be stored standing up (which is fantastic), and built-in handles on both the front and rear bumper make carrying a breeze.
