2001’s live-action adaptation of JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS is undoubtedly one of the most misunderstood movies in the history of film. It’s a 90-minute send-up of everything that was wrong with the music industry and popular culture at the time, and it was absolutely fantastic in that it was disguised as a kids movie. The people that hated it just didn’t get it, and in that the film suceeded even more. While it’s been over a decade since Rachael Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, and Tara Reid donned the ”cat ears” for that movie, is it possible that a new live-action JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS is in-production right now?

This past Monday, oddly, right around the same time that news hit that Josie DeCarlo – the real-life inspiration for the Josie character – had died, a message and photo appeared on the official facebook pages for both Archie Comics and Josie and the Pussycats…

“Say Hi to Josie… :)”

newjosieSo who is this mystery “Josie” and what does this mean? Is it a new movie… a TV pilot… a commercial… viral video… or just a girl that reminded the Archie Comics team of The Pussycats’ frontwoman?

My interest is certainly piqued, but thus far I’ve been unable to find any additional information in nearly three days. If anyone knows what’s going on, shoot The Rock Father™ an email, will ya?
