This September, NIRVANA will release the 20th Anniversary Edition of an album that I’ve already purchased twice. You see, back in the days prior to the internet and iTunes (and file sharing), record labels would often include bonus tracks on International releases of albums, all in hopes of snagging additional sales to hardcore American fans, many of whom (myself included – sucker) would buy the album again to have all of their favorite bands’ music. In the case of IN UTERO (which was originally released on September 13, 1993), the Japanese version featured an additional track, “Gallons of Rubbing Alcohol Flow Through the Strip,” which was actually denoted as a “Devalued American Dollar Purchase Incentive Track.” This Fall, I will buy the album again (unless I get sent one, of course).
While full details have not yet been revealed, the announcement was made today, along with the re-release of this vintage commercial starring BOBCAT GOLDTHWAIT… a commercial I remember from the first time around…
