Two days ago, Tom Burns of 8-Bit Dad weighed in on the usual hard-to-find nature of female action figures by making an off-the-cuff remark about the future availability of toys from Director Paul Fieg’s GHOSTBUSTERS. The new film starring Kristin Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones is out July 15 via Columbia Pictures/Sony, and from the looks of things, next month’s annual Toy Fair International in New York City should have no shortage of GHOSTBUSTERS goodness. According to Fieg on twitter, pretty much all of the current licensees for classic GHOSTBUSTERS merch (based on the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel) are in the mix – LEGO, Diamond Select, Funko, and more – and will be producing over 20 figures in various sizes and styles. The first batch to be revealed? Mattel’s 6″ line of articulated figures. Take a look…
No word yet on the pricing or availability, but these 6″ prototypes look a lot like something that would be offered through MattyCollector.com, though I’d hope to see these in a more widespread release. Stay tuned…
