Seattle Kindie Rockers RECESS MONKEY are going deep with their new album. DEEP SEA DIVER (June 18, Monkey Mama) is being called their “Blue Album,” an ocean-themed effort “set in a submarine that plumbs the musical depths of the sea before becoming shipwrecked on the beach of a distant lost island.” I’ve listened to a few tracks already, and I’m diggin’ it.
Vocalist/Guitarist Drew Holloway had the following to say about the new record:
Guest artists on DEEP SEA DIVER include Johnny Bregar (keyboard and mandolin), Tom Baisden (trumpet player of THE NOT-ITS!), and unsurprisingly… Dean Jones, (the 1990s Puff Daddy of the Kindie Scene) of DOG ON FLEAS on trombone. Dean plays on everyone‘s album (and has his own coming out), and if I ever make good on my threat of recording a “Kindie Metal Album,” I fully expect Mr. Jones to magically appear in the studio at some point. DEEP SEA DIVER was recorded on an island — Bainbridge Island, Washington — in Johnny Bregar’s Brickyard Studios.
