If you’ve been checking out The Rock Father in recent days, then you already know that we’ve been making our way through the entire line of MEGA BLOKS Hot Wheels, which the folks at MEGA Brands sent us for evaluation and review in The Rock Father’s State-of-the-Art Toy Testing Facility (our house and neighborhood). Today we’re going to take a look at one of our favorite entries in the line, the Turbo Tube Build and Collect Vehicles: Bone Shaker, Twin Mill III, and Twinduction.
Ranging from 63-71 pieces, these vehicles are essentially the heart of the entire MEGA BLOKS Hot Wheels collection (created in partnership with Mattel), based on and capturing the essence of three iconic vehicles from the classic 1:64 scale Hot Wheels mainline.
Addie and I really got rolling and had all three of these built and ready to rock within an hour…
What I really like about these vehicles and their companions (a variant Bone Shaker in the Super Stunt Test Facility; the Super Blitzen; the Urban Agent) is that they’re sorta meaty – really sturdy, with a lot of pieces in such a small space. While a good crash or a stunt gone wrong will send some pieces flying, these vehicles are the perfect size for the kids’ hands, and they don’t need to be treated as fragile.
While all three of these rides are certainly cool, I want to talk just a little bit about Bone Shaker. First released as a regular Hot Wheels car in 2006, this vehicle is a fan-favorite that has been reissued in dozens of colors and style variations. There was even a Monster Jam version of the car at one point, but one of the more common variations is the Baja Bone Shaker. In the MEGA BLOKS Hot Wheels collection, all of the base vehicles can be attached to the “Monster” chassis that comes with the Super Blitzen (which I reviewed here). While it’s technically a “Monster,” when we did our rebuild here, I think we came up with something pretty close to the Baja Bone Shaker. But it is a Monster…
This assortment of MEGA BLOKS Hot Wheels are Rock Father-approved, and available as a set of three from my affiliate, Entertainment Earth, or individually from Walmart.com
