#BrightMind

A couple of weeks back, I gave you a look at our first days of making the switch to Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind Dog Food for our “Senior” (still feels weird to say that) dogs. While we’ve switched both of our dogs to Bright Mind (available at PetSmart) I’ve been focusing on Harry, and if the food could live up to its promise of visible changes in his behavior “within 30 days.” Since the glucose metabolism in a dog’s brain is said to begin changing around age seven, and that the change can have effects on memory, learning, awareness and decision making  – I was skeptical about the inclusion of “enhanced botanical oils” being “shown to promote alertness and mental sharpness” in older dogs. After all, Harry is 13-ish.

So have we seen any changes?

Both my wife and I will be confirm that yes, indeed there have been some behavioral changes, particularly in owner-dog interaction, which is another bullet-point that the experts at Purina Pro Plan had been touting. He’s calmer (even as a “Senior” he’s always been high-strung and hyperactive), and just seems more laid back. It had been a long, long time since Harry would just sit with us calmly as a part of the family, and I’m seriously shocked to see him doing so – it’s as if he’s started paying more attention to his surroundings.

Yet, he’s still “Crazy Harry,” and that’s evident in a new video we let him shoot with our GoPro – a look at what a typical morning is for our beefy “little” dog… a dog with a penchant for chowing toys that aren’t his…

If you’re at all skeptical about a dog food creating visible changes in your dog within 30 days, give Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind a look. I questioned it, too – but now I’m a firm believer.
