THE ROCK FATHER is participating in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Dairy Queen. He has been compensated for his participation.
I remember when Dairy Queen first introduced the Blizzard back in 1985. Yes, it was the year of BACK TO THE FUTURE and THE BREAKFAST CLUB, G.I. JOE: A REAL AMERICAN HERO finally became a regular series, and on a more “rock” note, it was the year that the infamous Senate hearing from the PMRC brought Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider to testify alongside John Denver and Frank Zappa. In the three decades since, much has changed, but the DQ Blizzard prevails and has become a family tradition here at Rock Father HQ, enjoyed with our daughters just as my wife and I enjoyed them with our parents as children. Now, to celebrate 30 years of tasty Blizzard greatness and the 75th “Fanniversary” of DQ as a whole, Dairy Queen is inviting everyone to #GetUpsideDown this month for an Oreo Blizzard, which will be served upside down or your next one is free (at participating locations).
Last summer, the local DQ became a regular haunt after Addie’s baseball games that I was coaching. We’d stop by and spend some time as a family, enjoying our frozen treats on the big concrete picnic tables outside. While it’s still a tad early here, people are definitely getting into the spirit, as even on a slightly cool spring evening, you can find full line of cars waiting at the DQ drive-through, and usually a packed house inside waiting for those glorious goods. On our most recent trip, both of The Rock Daughters enjoyed a classic Oreo “mini” Blizzard…
My wife tried the new Salted Caramel Truffle Blizzard Treat, while I went with the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Smash. But, in true family fashion, we all shared to get a tasty sample of each.
