‘Tis the season for all things spooky, and this Halloween-themed 7-inch from Chicago’s Graveface Records is a welcome addition to the seasonal playlist. The debut from The Marshmallow Ghosts (a project featuring members of The Appleseed Cast, Casket Girls, Dreamend, and Black Moth Super Rainbow), this self-titled vinyl release is more soundscape than song, but something worth checking out. Featuring SHRIEKS on Side A with CREAKS on Side B, the spiral-graphic adorned record spins away with an organ-driven sound of mystery and delight. While you’re unlikely to find yourself listening to this on a year-round basis, The Marshmallow Ghosts would make a great soundtrack for a haunted house, the trick-or-treaters at your door, or a new accompaniment to a silent horror from days gone by.
The 7″ is limited to a pressing of only 500 copies, with pre-order packs already sold-out. It streets on October 20th, and includes a digital download code for those times when a turntable isn’t available.
