Earlier this week, right after posting a video showing WWE COO Triple H participating in the “Ice Bucket Challenge,” I told my wife – “It’s coming. Someone will challenge me to do this.” What I didn’t expect is that it would be her sister – my sister-in-law, throwing down the challenge… a challenge that arrived this afternoon. To do this proper and help to raise funds and awareness for The ALS Association in their efforts to combat Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) aka “Lou Gerhig’s disease,” I promptly ran over to Home Depot to grab a 5 gallon bucket, but also hit the ALSA website to make a cash donation – something I encourage you to do as well. I’ll show you mine… but will you show me yours?

In the spirit of the challenge, I’ve nominated three other individuals to take the Ice Bucket Challenge – perhaps in a way that will start the spread through the rock and metal worlds. Justin Timberlake and Darius Rucker have stepped up for Pop and Country, so I’m calling on a few friends – Adam Gilley and Geno Rathbone of PRODUCT OF HATE, and Shaun Glass of THE BLOODLINE and BROKEN HOPE to take the challenge and each challenge three more.
And, for anyone that thinks that the Ice Bucket Challenge is just a social media thing with no real results, think again. According to the ALSA, as of today, they’ve “received $13.3 million in donations compared to $1.7 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to August 17). These donations have come from existing donors and 259,505 new donors to The Association.”
Impressive. Most impressive!
