Toy Review: Hasbro MARVEL Super Hero Adventures Spider-Man Crane Capture Track Set

With THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 now available on Blu-ray, the folks over at Hasbro hit me up to take a look at a couple more of their toys based on the iconic web-slinger – ones that weren’t included when I did my feature on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 toys back in May. This time, we took their new MARVEL Super Hero Adventures Spider-Man Crane Capture Track Set for a spin, part of an interesting new line that combines “Action Figures + Racing” – two things that kids absolutely love. But that’s not all – Power Charged Electro from THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Power Charged Action Figure assortment dropped in as well. Check these out in-action below….

Recommended for ages 3-7, this set is rooted in a type of play that’s usually reserved for the diecast car aisles – a vehicle that’s gravity driven through a cool track. Place the “Special Edition” Spider-man action figure on the included motorcycle and send him speeding down the track where he triggers an exceptionally fast – and remarkably well-executed chain reaction that’s akin to a MOUSE TRAP game. Spidey appears to leap from his motorcycle by grabbing onto a spring-loaded bar that flips upward as he hangs from it – while the construction crane it’s attached to spins around and allows it’s forked hook to capture the included 2-D Electro character. It happens so quickly, yet it works – and the kids love it.

Spider-Man

Move the launch ramp to the other side of the base and you can set up an adventure that finds Spidey crashing through a breakaway wall to send Electro flying. Since the set works with other Action Figure Racing launchers, figures and vehicles (like X-MEN star Wolverine), there’s room for expansion as kids create their own MARVEL Universe.

There’s a lot to do here, and my little ones jumped right in… But then the movie Electro (who looks vastly different than his comic book counterpart) showed up with his light-up face and chest to crash the party looking like a glowing cast member from the Blue Man Group… and Little Finley was digging it.

Rock Father-Approved!

The Crane Capture Track Set and Spider-Man Power Charged Action Figures are available now from most major retailers, including (my associate) Amazon.
