Created by a Chicago-based outfit (but not, the Chicago Outfit) known as The Escape Pod, this year’s campaign takes on a “newsroom” feel, and a little tidbit not included in the PR is that there’s supposedly around 70 different variations of these ads this year. My initial opinion was that they’re a little bland… sterile… and lacking the fun and magic of Toys “R” Us ads from years past. But then I ran across this version that the ad agency posted on their official YouTube channel…

Yes, the “Toys ‘R’ Us Jingle,” a staple of my childhood growing up in the 80s. They need to use it more often so that kids actually do learn the words to the jingle properly. Speaking of which, last year TRU brought back the “nostalgia anthem” as a retro-throwback. I think they need to update this one every year…
