Some bands work perfectly with Halloween, and some bands bring the Halloween to every day. With their madcap theatrics and splatteriffic live shows, GWAR is one such band, and just in-time for Halloween 2017 they've unleashed a new album - THE BLOOD OF GODS. Out now on Metal Blade Records, The Howard Stern Show just played host to the music video debut for "I'll Be Your Monster" (see it below), and it's got an uncharacteristic 1970s vibe to it - a little Alice Cooper, perhaps with a dash of Motorhead thrown in. See the new video below, and look for THE BLOOD OF GODS on your favorite streaming service or at retailers now. It's a perfect addition to an updated Halloween playlist!

There's long been a strange relationship between Halloween and Christmas, perhaps the fact that two of the year's biggest holidays arrive at the end of a month, at the end of the year with just a month bridging the gap between the two. While Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas might be the most famous example, this year Mickey Mouse is getting in on the action with a new DVD collection, Mickey Mouse: Merry & Scary. Featuring the fantastic retro-styled Mickey Mouse cartoons from Disney Channel, families can get into the Halloween spirit as Mickey, Donald, and Goofy swap hair-raising Halloween stories. Then fast forward a couple months to Donald’s first Christmas festivities with friends! Check out a preview below...

Somewhat surprisingly, there hasn't been a lot of new Halloween music released this year, but of the few new releases to hit, one of the best comes from Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats with a swingin' new tune called "My Mommy is a Mummy." Taken from the new EP, It's the Holidays!, this old-school jam is accented by appropriately-Egyptian hooks. Check it out below!

PRODUCT OF HATE has been honing their metallic assault for a decade now, but it wasn't until 2016 that their debut album got a Global release via Napalm Records. That album, BURIED IN VIOLENCE, came with a built-in perennial favorite for the Halloween season in "Unholy Manipulator," and I should know - I directed the video for it. While that one was first released independently a few years prior to the album, no one really knew that one of the new cuts would also bear a horrific mark, and that's what lands "Monster" in my 31 Days of Halloween countdown for the very first time. Oddly enough, the song and video may be more timely in 2017 than it was in 2016, especially in light of the situation with Harvey Weinstein and the ongoing discussion about the proper treatment of women and the horrors of abuse. Whether you've heard the song and seen the video before, or you're just discovering it now, watch and listen closely. This "Monster" might be bigger than you thought...

She was born in Detroit on an automobile assembly line.  But she is no ordinary automobile. Deep within her chassis lives an unholy presence.  She is Christine, a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury whose unique standard equipment includes an evil, indestructible vengeance that will destroy anyone in her way.

Thus goes the introduction to CHRISTINE, the 1983 John Carpenter film based upon Stephen King's novel of the same name. Now, 34 years later, Varèse Sarabande has reissued John Carpenter’s classic score for CHRISTINE on LP. The CHRISTINE– Original Motion Picture Score has been fully remastered and is been released on blue vinyl, with a splatter variant available via Newbury Comics.  The album features fantastic new art from award-winning movie poster artist Gary Pullin (“Ghoulish Gary”).

Netflix Stream TeamIt was just about a year ago when I first mentioned Super Monsters, a new series geared toward the preschool (and a bit older) set in which the children of monsters learn to navigate the social waters while coming to grips with their powers. Think Monster High, but in preschool - with a bit of that PJ Masks daytime/nighttime vibe, and you're on the right track. Now, just in-time for Halloween, the first season of Super Monsters has made it's debut as a Netflix Original Series, and straight out of the gate it's a good one.
