Behold: 15 of the Coolest Toys from MARVEL’s ANT-MAN

Published:

This article is more than 9 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

With MARVEL’s ANT-MAN in theaters now, your favorite retailers are stocking up on some pretty cool merch featuring a superhero that until now, few were actually familiar with. Being the first true “family” film in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe, there’s a lot of play value (and potential for learning) here. As with most summer movies (and superhero movies in general), the amount of items hitting the streets for ANT-MAN is massive, but I’m presenting a hand-picked collection of 15 of the coolest toys – a rundown offered up in no particular order.

*As always, your purchase of these items (if links are provided) support the operation of this website.

For the #AntManEvent starting tomorrow. He's pretty chatty, but at least he didn't have to buy a ticket. Shhhh! #MARVEL #AntMan #Toyography #toyphotography #Hasbro

MARVEL Legends Infinite Series Ant-Man (Hasbro): The first Ant-Man figure that we added to our collection, this one actually comes with a 6″ Ant-Man packed alongside half-inch counterparts of Ant-Man, Yellowjacket, and a micro-scale flying ant (Antony/Anthony).  Fantastically-posable and a ton of fun, my story of how I came across this one is featured in my interview with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.

Ant-Man

Bonus: My Ant-Man has now been played with by much of the film’s cast, including Rudd & Lilly, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, David Dastmalchian, T.I. and Michael Pena, along with Director Peyton Reed and MARVEL Studios Chief Kevin Feige. Get it: Amazon

Hot Wheels

Hot Wheels MARVEL Ant-Man Shrink Chamber Shoot-Out Trackset (Mattel): While it’s Hasbro that has the MARVEL license for most of the action figures and such, Mattel has been on a roll with Disney properties getting the Hot Wheels treatment. We’ve already seen a ton of MARVEL-based cars and playsets, as well as STAR WARS and Pixar characters in the mix. Now, ANT-MAN gets in on the action with a basic trackset that comes as the latest addition to an assortment that’s already seen Rocket Racoon get a GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY set alongside THE AVENGERS and SPIDER-MAN. This one is so-new, that the only place to get it right now seems to be Mattel’s official store, as it first appeared on the Hot Wheels social channels over the weekend. Two sizes of Ant-Man cars – genius! Get it: Mattel Shop

ANT-MAN PopTaters Mr. Potato Head (PPW Toys under license from Hasbro): PPW Toys has been knocking it out of the park since they got into the Mr. Potato Head game a few years back. While Hasbro still focuses their efforts on most of the traditional versions, PPW is rolling out a ton of excellent collector-focused character editions, and Ant-Man is the latest in their PopTaters line. Aimed at collectors, yes – but my girls think he’s just awesome to play with! I don’t mind. Get it: Amazon | Entertainment Earth

LEGOLEGO MARVEL Super Heroes Ant-Man Final Battle: Paul Rudd and Corey Stoll both expressed excitement to me that their characters were getting reproduced as LEGO Minifigures. That set is flying off of store shelves right now, and it’s reasonably-priced at around $20. The folks at LEGO sent me one of these, but it’s in-transit right now. Look for a full review soon! Get it: LEGO Shop | Amazon

Funko Pop! Vinyl Ant-Man: Pop! Vinyl has become an unstoppable force when it comes to collectibles, and The Rock Daughters have slowly started amassing a collection that we open up and play with. This Ant-Man is a Bobblehead, and while the standard edition is fantastic, there’s a Hot Topic Exclusive glow-in-the-dark version, a “blackout” version that Funko sold at SDCC, and an unmasked edition that came as an exclusive to the MARVEL Collector Corps subscription boxes. Get it: Amazon

Funko Pop! Vinyl Yellowjacket: There’s an interesting story to my own Yellowjacket, as I found it at the Hot Topic at Universal CityWalk just prior to interviewing actor Corey Stoll. Yes, he played with it, and his first reaction nailed it – “That is so cool!” Folks from Funko (if you’re reading), please get Mr. Stoll hooked-up with some figures. He was hoping for a discount! MARVEL Select Ant-Man Unmasked (Disney Store Exclusive Version by Diamond Select Toys): This elusive variant is one I haven’t seen yet “in the wild.” While the standard edition Marvel Select Ant-man comes with his mask on, Disney Store has a version that’s the best of both worlds – unmasked or masked. The detail looks really good, but I was unable to secure a review sample to examine. Get it: Disney Store

Disney Store Ant-Man Display

Ant-Man Costume for Kids (Disney Store): Sidebar to the item, but I noticed something interesting recently – a lot of their role-play costumes, toys and hoodies that had previously been labeled “for boys” now say “for kids,” and that’s awesome. My girls have long enjoyed items from both sides of the store, and considering that the Ant-Man suit is “unisex” (Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne virtually begs to suit-up in the movie), that’s a great thing to see. Having seen this suit in-person on a recent visit to Mall of America, this would be a great addition to any kids’ dress-up assortment! Get it: Disney Store

Mashers

MARVEL Super Hero Mashers Ant-Man (Hasbro): When we first took a look at Hasbro’s MARVEL Super Hero Mashers here on the site about a year and a half ago, I had no idea that they’d take off the way they did. Expanding beyond MARVEL (which they launched with), the Mashers line now has seen TRANSFORMERS and JURASSIC WORLD join this mix, and this fall characters from STAR WARS and STAR WARS REBELS will join the crew. But first, MARVEL’s Ant-Man is here, with a comic book-inspired version. Get it: Amazon

Wasp

MARVEL Legends Infinite Series Wasp (Hasbro): Let’s call this one a bit of “foreshadowing” given what I mentioned earlier about Evangeline Lilly. Could The Wasp be making a big-screen appearance in the MARVEL Cinematic Universe? For now, it’s interesting that this comic-inspired figure comes in the same assortment as the Ant-Man figure I featured up top. Get it: Amazon | Disney Store

Ant-Man Ant Farm

Ant-Man Ant Farm Science Kit (Uncle Milton Toys): What a perfect tie-in. If Ant-Man can help introduce kids to the world of Ant Farms, Uncle Milton will have stumbled-upon one of the most unlikely marketing scenarios ever. Get it: Amazon | Entertainment Earth

Ant-ManBleacher Creatures Ant-Man Plush Figure: While they’re known for their sports figures, we’ve featured Bleacher Creatures here on the site before – after they got into the pop culture realm with heroes from the rival DC Comics Universe. Now, MARVEL is heavily into the mix, and Ant-Man is there. Get it: Entertainment Earth

MARVEL Minimates Ant-Man Movie Box Set: Diamond Select just keeps rolling with their ever-expanding line of Minimates, and after an SDCC-exclusive Ant-Man debut, the movie crew will hit en masse just in-time for Christmas. Get it: Entertainment Earth

Antony!

MARVEL Legends Infinite Series 3¾” Ant-Man & Ant (Hasbro): Is it Antony or Anthony? That was the question that Paul Rudd still can’t seem to answer, but his flying companion is now in-scale to other MARVEL figures. Bonus: If you want your STAR WARS or G.I. JOE figures to ride the ant, that’s totally cool, too. Get it: Amazon | Entertainment Earth

Expensive

Ant-Man 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure (Hot Toys): This one can be filed solely under “For Grownups.” This $234.99 figure from Hot Toys is as detailed as you can get, an 11″ representation that’s so real – it looks like you actually took Paul Rudd and… shrunk him. It even lights up! Get it: Sideshow Toys

Want to see additional ANT-MAN Toy Picks? My friend Lisa at Mom on the Side has a highly detailed list!

Bonus: Amazon has an entire ANT-MAN shop set up right now, as does Entertainment Earth and Disney Store.
