April is Earth Month, and now the results of the Green Real Estate Survey (conducted by the National Association of Realtors) have been revealed. Among the data are new numbers confirming that parents are showing increased interest in “Green Homes.” Of the respondents that currently live in a Eco-Friendly Home, 66% have children. I’d love to turn Rock Father HQ into a full-blown Eco-Friendly establishment, but conversion doesn’t come cheap… so we do what we can. Check out some stats via the infographic below…
One irritating factoid up top is that 55% of Men surveyed believe that eco-friendly features DO NOT add value to a home. Come on, guys… don’t be idiots. There’s a lot of ways to add eco-friendly features to your home, and they’re not all as dramatic as one might think. In fact, the NAR has put together a “Field Guide to Green Homes and Green Mortgages” that contains some rockin’ tips on Green Remodeling options, new construction, Green Living and more.
Additionally, with tax day officially happening this Monday (I did ours more than a month ago), there’s also a guide over at Realtor.com about ways to use your tax refund to increase your home value. It’s worth checking out as you plan your Spring and Summer projects.
My Dad has been in the Real Estate game for nearly 40 years. In fact, I can remember attending some National Association of Realtors events as a kid… I’ve even threatened to get a Real Estate license on more than a few occasions. Never took that path, though.
