I have a couple of diehard lightsaber aficionados in this house right now. While we have a Luke (or Kanan) blue saber and a Darth Vader (though Finn calls it “Inquisitor”) red, I’ll never forget my first saber, Kenner’s “The Force” saber that was initially released back in 1980. My version was the 1983 RETURN OF THE JEDI Luke Skywalker model (which I often used while wearing a ‘Vader Halloween costume), but long before that came the 1977 Kenner STAR WARS Lightsaber – a simple, inflatable version that I personally never had. It’s featured for May 13 in Hasbro’s #ForceFridayCountdown Calendar, and I just found a commercial floating around on YouTube…
A few years back, I had one of the really expensive Master Replicas lightsabers. Thing is, the guy who gave it to me (one of my sister’s ex-boyfriends) turned out to be a real a-hole, so I sold it on a garage sale just to get the bad vibes out of the house. I’m a man of principle.
There’s just 114 Days until Force Friday, the day that new Hasbro toys for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS arrive at retail!
