When it comes to the secondary characters in the first STAR WARS movie, 1977’s EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE, few have as much additional backstory of “what might have been” than Biggs Darklighter – the X-Wing pilot portrayed by actor Garrick Hagon. While audiences didn’t see him until the Battle of Yavin, where he (as “Red 3”) joined Luke Skywalker (“Red 5”) and Wedge Antilles (“Red 2”) in their attack run on the Death Star trench, Biggs was originally slated to appear in several scenes that were shot and subsequently cut from the final film. Over the years, Biggs has received the action figure treatment a few times, most recently as part of THE BLACK SERIES in 2013. That figure (still available on Amazon) is featured as today’s entry in the Force Friday Countdown Calendar, and featured here on THE ROCK FATHER as flanked by other Rebel pilots and members of the infamous ROGUE SQUADRON.
