This article is more than 10 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

It was actually 50° here today. That is an exciting development, and a reminder that while there’s still a nasty amount of dirty snow outside that’s finally starting to melt, just four weeks from now baseball will started, and green grass will be seen at least somewhere here in Illinois. As we “think Spring,” I can’t wait to hit the garden with the girls, and I’m already scoping out some new tools for 2015 – one of which has already arrived. The folks at Scotts Miracle-Gro sent me their new Miracle-Gro LiquaFeed Universal Feeder Starter Kit, and I can’t wait to try it out…

I’d already been using LiquaFeed on some of our landscape plants and flowers over the past few seasons, but this looks really cool in that it goes between the hose and the house – allowing us to water using any attached device. Check this out…

How to Use the Miracle-Gro LiquaFeed Universal Feeder:

Attach the feeder to your spigot, and then attach your garden hose. Insert the LiquaFeed refill bottle into the feeder, making sure that the bottle is vertical. The feeder can also rotate if you need to adjust it to fit your spigot or to place on the ground in-line between two hoses. Turn on the water. Turn the dial to FEED, and begin feeding your plants while you water them. It’s like a power drink for your garden. It’s that easy!

How it works: LiquaFeed Universal Feeder is a patent-pending technology that automatically mixes the right amount of nutrients for even feeding. The Universal Feeder contains a water-powered pump that adjusts to the various water pressures coming into the feeder from the spigot as well as the different flow rates of watering devices, such as hand sprayers, sprinklers and soaker hoses. The pump speed is directly related to the watering device’s flow rate. The higher the flow rate, the faster the pump speed, which you will hear with a faster clicking sound.

LiquaFeed Universal Feeder

Miracle-Gro LiquaFeed Universal Feeder takes the guesswork out of feeding, so your plants aren’t under or over fed, and never burned, making it easier than ever to have a lush, beautiful garden!

I’ll be checking back in on my social networks throughout the season, so stay tuned!

Bonus: Check out this new “Generations” Commercial from the new “Life starts here” campaign from Miracle-Gro. I dig it…
