“Howdy, folks! It’s me, the real Colonel Sanders!” That’s the message delivered tonight when commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken inexplicably replaced former SNL star Darrell Hammond with former SNL star Norm Macdonald as Colonel Harland Sanders. Why? Who knows, but Macdonald was a better Burt Reynolds than Hammond was a Sean Connery (take that, Trebeck!), so I’m cool with it. No press release or advertising dollars arrived here at Rock Father HQ for this, so we’ll just chalk it up to a little “earned media” for KFC on this one. You know what? I know a thing or two about plugging fast food on network television, so I think I should just declare myself as “the REAL Colonel Sanders.” They say you “can’t just put some guy in a wig and white suit and call him the Colonel,” but I disagree.

So you tell me: Darrell Hammond or Norm Macdonald? Sound off below…
