Last year, legendary rockers and kings of cross-merchandising, KISS teamed up with Sanrio for a line of “KISS x Hello Kitty” products. A lot of hardcore rock fans balked at the idea, but the line was hugely successful – so much that it’s spawned a new TV series that’s in-development at The Hub right now. KISS Hello Kitty (working title) “will feature the four KISS x Hello Kitty characters living their rock ‘n’ roll dreams and bringing pink anarchy to every situation they are in.”
My oldest daughter, Addie, absolutely ADORES Hello Kitty (I can’t count how much Hello Kitty merch is here in the house), and after borrowing some 80s HK DVDs from the local library, I ended up getting her a set of her own this past Valentine’s Day. Hello Kitty plus ROCK is a combination that certainly fits what we do here at Rock Father HQ, so I’m looking forward to this.

Here’s some of what the guilty parties have to say about the new series…
KISS will join fellow theatrical rockers, THE AQUABATS, as the second adventurous band to reach new generations through childrens’ programming on The Hub. Meanwhile, KISS is also back in toy aisles with new K’NEX Building Sets (previously featured on The Rock Father), which I recently spotted “in the wild” over at TARGET.
I’ll be following the development of KISS Hello Kitty as the news rolls in… will you be watching this with your little ones?
Now, my personal KISS anecdote: Back when I was working for the late Sam Goody/Musicland a decade or so ago, we had Paul Stanley at our annual meetings at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. He came out to promote a line of signature edition Silvertone Guitars that we were gearing up to carry. Paul showed up in full-blown KISS stage gear… the costume… the makeup… the boots. He wound up hanging out with a bunch of Sam Goody folks in one of the many hotel bars, and at one point was acting silly… attracting the attention of onlookers who thought he was “a KISS impersonator.” Only in Vegas.
