As we roll toward the end of an unusually challenging year for many, there’s some bright spots to be seen, one of which is shining in California tonight. MGA Entertainment and the Marine Toys for Tots program have been working together in order to brighten the holidays for some of the many children whose families were affected by the devastating wildfires that ravaged parts of both Northern and Southern California last month. The team at MGA will be providing more than $5M in new toys that are expected to bring joy to an estimated 300,000 kids in California and in other parts of the country where disaster has struck.
“We design toys to bring smiles to the faces of children around the world,” said Isaac Larian, CEO, founder and chairman for MGA Entertainment. “There has been so much devastation in the past month that we want as many kids as possible who have been impacted by these horrific experiences to enjoy the holiday season with their friends and family.”
The Marine Toys for Tots program has been hit hard this year, losing a major corporate sponsor in Toys “R” Us. Despite the setback, other players have stepped up to make some good things happen, and MGA Entertainment is the latest to join in.
“We are very pleased to welcome MGA Entertainment as a national corporate sponsor of the 2018 Marine Toys for Tots Campaign,” said retired Marine Colonel Ted Silvester, vice president of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. “Their community service goals certainly align with those the Marine Corps has promoted for over70 years through our Toys for Tots Program.” Silvester concluded, “With their generous support we will be able to fulfill the Christmas holiday dreams of many thousands of less fortunate children who otherwise might be forgotten.”
Holiday giving is a large part of what I do as “The Rock Father” through my hyper-local #RockFatherSanta program, and as Christmas draws closer, I heartily encourage everyone to give what they can. Look for local Toys for Tots drop-off locations or other community programs where donations will be accepted.
Created in 1947 and expanded nationwide in 1948, the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is an official activity of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Marine Corps’ premiere community action program. From 1947-2017, U.S. Marines distributed 548 million toys to over 251 million less fortunate children. Today, Toys for Tots is the nation’s flagship Christmas charitable cause with local Toys for Tots campaigns conducted from October through December each year in over 800 communities throughout the nation.
