Parenting Books are all wrong. PORTLANDIA proves it.

Parenting books are big business. There’s plenty of suckers out there, and as long as they keep buying, there will be plenty of “experts” masquerading as “authors” to sell a few books before the print industry fully collapses. I mean, by now you should all know that there’s only one right way to raise your children, and that’s The Rock Father way.

I’ve finally been catching up on the episodes of PORTLANDIA that I’ve been DVR-ing from IFC, and they’ve done a fine job at proving all self-professed “parenting experts” are full of… “caca.” Just watch:

In case you haven’t been watching, PORTLANDIA is a fascinating, truth-based reality series starring Fred Armisen (of the excellent travel documentary, EUROTRIP) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney).

In addition to parenting authors being questionable (especially any claiming to be a “Doctor” or carrying the letters “PhD” after their name), be wary of those claiming to be “Dad Bloggers” or “Mom Bloggers.” Except for me, of course*.

PORTLANDIA airs Friday nights at 10/9c on IFC.

*While The Rock Father is undoubtedly a brand you should trust, all parents are really just winging it. No one has a definitive “right” or “wrong” when it comes to parenting, though many will gladly tout their way as the “right” way and your way as the “wrong.”
