If you grew up in the 80s as I did, you know that MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE was fantastic. I still remember the first figure I received from the line (Beast Man) and who I got it from (a kid who lived down the street, whose mom managed the local Taco Bell). Fast-forward three decades, and the adventures of HE-MAN and the gang are still fresh in the minds of many, and while the MOTU have influenced pop culture, now pop culture has influenced the MOTU. Prime example: Mattel has announced the June release of BABY SKELETOR. And by the power of Grayskull, is he cute…
Loosely based on a sketch from Robot Chicken, and no doubt taking some cues from a lot of fan art that’s floated around over the years (Baby Skeletor playing blocks sticks in my head), this 12″ figure comes packed in a “throne” package, along with an “evil royal potty.” His Havoc Staff has been re-worked as a rattle, and he’s got a removable, baby blue “Born to Rule” shirt.
With a price set at $35, the Baby Skeletor figure will be available exclusively through Matty Collector starting June 12 for “Early Access” members. On June 16, whatever is left will then go on-sale to the public.
Now, this is one of those “Adult Collector” things, but come on… there’s gonna be some kids playing with Baby Skeletor, and it’s going to be adorable.
