Rock Father’s Day 2014: Prepare Yourselves for true “Dads that Rock” #RockFathersDay

This article is more than 10 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

June 15, 2014 is Father’s Day this year, and for me, the date holds special significance well beyond just being the annual celebration of Fatherhood. June 15 will mark the second birthday of my youngest daughter, Finley, and also mark the “official” entry into Year Four for THE ROCK FATHER™ as a website. Of course, it was back in 2009 – nearly five years ago – that I effectively became “The Rock Father” upon the birth of my first daughter, Adalyn. A lot has changed since then – including the scope of this site… but what about those other “Rock Fathers?”

When I announced the launch of THE ROCK FATHER™, my idea of what it would be was different. One thing that I’d promised was profiles and contributions from other Rock Fathers from different corners of the entertainment world. Dads with compelling stories, that I think you all might enjoy.

The weird thing prior to launching the site is the amount of pushback I got about that idea. I’d pitched the initial concept of the site and the features to a lot of people prior to flipping the switch, and at the time, the overall response was really weak – in the “people won’t want to read that,” and “my client doesn’t have much to say about fatherhood and parenting” (actual, very disappointing quote) vein.

About a year ago, I started getting pitches from other people asking if I would feature a certain “Rock Father” here and there. Funny how things change… but I’d never felt the time was right to revisit that concept until now…

As much of the media starts rolling out their annual “Dads Who Rock” Father’s Day features, I’m just staking a flag and re-christening the day as ROCK FATHER’S DAY™. From now until June 15, I’ll be featuring profiles on some fellow Rock Fathers that you should definitely become familiar with.

You never know… if it goes well, perhaps it will continue as a regular feature, along with some “Rock Mothers” in the mix.

Stay tuned, the first Rock Father is on-deck…
