The second season of THE TOY BOX has come to a close on ABC, and now we know which new toy the judges have crowned champion. For the past eight weeks, the kid judges have come face-to-face with hopeful toy inventors, each competing for a shot at having their creation mass-produced by Mattel and made available for sale exclusively at Toys “R” Us. The winner this time around? Hydroshield aka Water Dodger! But that’s not all, as Toys “R” Us chose Eardorables as a runner-up, and host Eric Stonestreet’s personal favorite, Wobb-Ball (seen as Flexxball) s a reality as well. See the winning toys below…
Will THE TOY BOX return for season three? I certainly hope so, and I do know that the feelers have been thrown out there. Ratings for season two started out soft, but they’ve actually increased as the season has gone on. The retooled competition was better than season one, but I’m not sure if the new Sunday night time slot was better or worse than the Friday night slot from the first season.
I’m also curious how sales from the winners is going. The first winner, Art Splash 3D Liquid Art is already marked-down to $14.99 from $24.99, and the Sweet Shaper (Toot Sweet) is $11.99 right now, down from $19.99. Meanwhile, the Noisy Persons card game doesn’t seem to have found an audience.
Congratulations to the season two winners, and fingers-crossed that we’ll soon see a season three!
