fownewAdding a new layer of jangling acoustic guitars to their signature sound, master power-pop rockers FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE have delivered their fifth studio album, and best since 2003’s WELCOME INTERSTATE MANAGERS.

There’s a lot to love with songs like Action Hero becoming a sensitive ode to the adreneline-fueled world usually populated by names like Statham and Stallone. The Summer Place is a fitting opener for an album released on the cusp of the dog days, while Radio Bar nods and winks at Steve Miller via The Joker while eluding to their own crossover successes (i.e. Stacy’s Mom) as they describe one of their own tracks being ‘added to the jukebox’ and becoming ‘a hit with the jocks.’

It feels like the four years since 2007’s TRAFFIC & WEATHER have been an eternity, but FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE have proven their staying power with SKY FULL HOLES.
