Back-to-School is still such a strange time of year around here – something that just seven years ago was decades behind us, and the thought of having one kid in school was unbelievable, much less having two. But now my wife and I do have two in school, and at the end of the month The Rock Daughters™ will be rockin’ the halls once more. As our lives become busier with each passing year, and seemingly with each flip of the calendar, it’s also incredible how much we depend on technology to hold it all together. Here at Rock Father HQ, my office PC is labeled with a Batcave-esque label that describes on the monitor exactly what it is: “THE ROCK FATHER – COMMAND CENTER.” That HP desktop has been labeled as such for years, and my laptops are always a component of my “Mobile HQ” as I travel. Now it’s time to tie the whole family into one, and for that we’ve added the HP Pavilion Liquid Platinum Gaming Laptop (15-AU010WM) to the arsenal – one of the all-new lineup of HP computers available at Walmart just in time for Back-to-School this year. It’s a perfect machine for the entire family.

On the surface, the girls like it because they think it looks “cool” – which is also a selling point for Daddy as well… it’s called “feel-good style,” a lightweight, yet sturdy frame with a design that compliments just about anything. But this Notebook legitimately rocks – with custom-tuned audio from B&O Play (that’s Bang & Olufsen, a Danish company that’s been creating audio gear for over 90 years). Having their tech paired with the HP Speakers brings an unexpected edge to our new Notebook for sure.

While my home base will always be that main “Command Center” inside the office at Rock Father HQ, our new laptop helps me take things on the road when I’ll be sitting in parking lots waiting for the girls in-between activities… provides the portable power we need to bring things into every room of the house for a complete experience, whether it be letting the girls work on some of their school-recommended apps like Raz-Kids and ABC Mouse, Mommy catching up with Netflix and checking email, or me printing schedules for the day or charts for the little ones’ projects (I recommend staying stocked-up with ink, and some of the Astrobrights colored cardstock to keep the printables vibrant). And when it comes to power, this machine delivers – built with gaming in-mind, it boasts an Intel Core i7 Processor, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX Graphics with 2 GB DDR3L of dedicated video memory, 12GB Memory, has a 1TB Hard Drive and runs Windows 10 Home Edition. My personal favorite feature is something much simpler, however – the backlit keyboard. I do a lot of late night work.

If you’re looking for a new computer this season, check out the all-new selection of HP Notebooks available at your local Walmart. And when that first day of school rolls around, don’t forget to take stock of where the kids are at as things get started. Below you’ll find a free printable Back-to-School “Favorites” chart for the first day of school. Print it out on card stock, and use a white or silver Sharpie to fill it in!
