BRONIES Documentary Coming to Wide-Release DVD this December…

This article is more than 11 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

Whenever I post something that falls into this realm, I always have to add a preface, because I get asked: No, I am not a “Brony.” I have two daughters that absolutely adore MY LITTLE PONY, but even even though I’ve watched it with them on The Hub, I cannot get into MY LITTLE PONY: FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC. But… I know guys that do (some of whom read this site), and I don’t knock it, but it’s just not for me. That said, the documentary film, BRONIES: THE EXTREMELY UNEXPECTED ADULT FANS OF MY LITTLE PONY is getting a wide-release on DVD on December 17th via MVD Entertainment Group.

Already out on DVD and Blu-ray directly through the filmmakers or via Amazon and iTunes, BRONIES is touted as “a documentary about adult men who love a cartoon created for little girls,” and should be on retail shelves just in time for the holiday gifting season.

About the Film:

bronymovieOne would be hard-pressed to find a cultural sensation as unique and as unexpected as Bronies: a group of mostly young adult men who are dedicated fans of the animated series created for little girls, called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The documentary discovers why these guys are attracted to a cartoon intended for little girls and why are they willing to brave society’s ridicule for their love of the show.

Along with the essential story elements of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic — Honesty, Kindness, Laughter, Generosity, Loyalty and Magic – have a universality that extends beyond age and gender and that Bronies are pushing the boundaries of what society deems appropriate in their quest for a kinder, gentler future.

Bronies from around the world, reveal their own unique stories, as they make their way to My Little Pony conventions in Germany, England and, the biggest of all, BronyCon: a convention attended by over 4,000 Bronies in the USA.

The revelations in the film are, indeed, unexpected and give hope to the notion that Bronies might be on to something quite wonderful.
