When it comes to toys, the Kenner STAR WARS Luke Skywalker “Large Size” Action Figure from 1979 pretty much epitomizes the seventies. While Kenner pioneered the popular 3¾ action figures that became the standard – they were coming off an era where G.I. JOE, MEGO, and BARBIE’s Ken reigned supreme in more of a “doll” kind of form. While this one was based on Mark Hamill’s appearance as the young space farmer in 1977’s STAR WARS, by 1983’s RETURN OF THE JEDI, Luke was decked-out in all black and ready to rock. Fast-forward a few decades and even Mickey Mouse was busting out a Luke Skywalker cosplay, and that’s what I’ve chosen to feature alongside today’s entry into Hasbro’s Force Friday Countdown Calendar as we move toward the September 4th release of toys from J.J. Abrams’ STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. I’m keeping it interesting…
