There comes a certain point with nearly every pop culture brand where eventually, the characters must form a band. I’m not sure why that is, but it’s the rules, so we have to live with it. Being “The Rock Father,” I can’t claim to mind because I don’t! In fact, I fully support anyone picking up an instrument and broadening their musical horizons – even if they’re a cartoon or a doll! Did you know that the TRANSFORMERS were once a “Hair Metal” band? Well, it happened, so when word came down that Lalaloopsy was getting into the guitar-slinging action, I was in… but so were THE ROCK DAUGHTERS™.
The ongoing series of Lalaloopsy movies have become a popular thing over here at Rock Father HQ, and between DVD and Netflix, we’ve seen them all many, many times. Here we have a new band called The Buttonettes, in LALALOOPSY: BAND TOGETHER. Sticks Boom Crash, Keys Sharps N’ Flats and my personal favorite, Strings Pick N’ Strum are on their first tour of Lalaloopsy Land, traveling to each gig in a bus that looks inspired by THE MUPPETS’ DR. TEETH & THE ELECTRIC MAYHEM with a dash of THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY going on. This rockin’ musical showcases four original songs, and comes with five additional original shorts for a ton of new Lala-fun!
While the dolls based on BAND TOGETHER aren’t out just yet (they’re coming), as a Lalaloopsy SIP (Sew Important Person) Ambassador, I’ve teamed-up with the folks at MGA Entertainment for yet another magical giveaway! You could win one of the new MINI SUPER SILLY PARTY DOLLS – fan-favorite characters, each with a new dress and hairstyle!
- Jewel Sparkles™ was made from remnants of a real princess’ dress. She is very graceful, a little bit bossy, and loves to dance and wear sparkly clothes. Sewn on March 13 (Jewel Day)
- Peanut Big Top™ was made from bits of a brightly colored clown’s costume. She is a silly prankster who’s a little bit clumsy and loves to make her friends laugh. Sewn on April 1 (April Fools Day)
- Mittens Fluff ‘n’ Stuff™ was made from pieces of an Eskimo’s scarf. She loves hot cocoa, snow fights, and snuggling by the fire. Sewn on December 21 (1st day of Winter)
- Crumbs Sugar Cookie™ was made from pieces of a baker’s apron. She is super-sweet, has perfect manners, and loves inviting friends over for tea and treats. Sewn on December 4 (National Cookie Day)
