Whenever I visit Disneyland or Walt Disney World, a visit to The Haunted Mansion is an absolute must. I love the place, though The Rock Daughters got a little freaked out when we took them to Disney World last year (they haven't paid a visit to California just yet). That said, it's pretty cool that The Haunted Mansion has made its way to Disney XD this month, hitting the airwaves for a series of entertaining stop-motion animated on-air promos that find Disney characters from "DuckTales," "Big Hero 6 The Series" and "Star vs. The Forces of Evil" on their own adventure hosted by Haunted Mansion ghosts. The promos, a collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios and Disney XD are airing now through Halloween, with more to be found online.
He may not know it, but SpongeBob Squarepants is my nemesis. Actually, if we're being honest, he's just one of my nemeses, but for years Mr. Squarepants has been on that shortlist of undesirables, and I can't pick a singular reason for it. I don't like his voice... his animation... in fact, I can't find a single redeeming quality in SpongeBob, and I know I've pointed that out before. Still, many of you enjoy his antics, and that's why I continue to keep tabs on what they're up to down in Bikini Bottom. This Halloween, Nickeloden will be treating viewers to a spooky stop-motion special with the premiere of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Legend of Boo-Kini Bottom, on Friday, Oct. 13, at 7p.m. (ET/PT). This new holiday special spins a tale of the Flying Dutchman (Brian Doyle-Murray) coming to Bikini Bottom to make sure everyone in town is scared--especially SpongeBob, who seems to be unflappable in his belief that spooky things are actually funny. DC Super Hero Girls is a line of been championing since it's announcement, and here at Rock Father HQ we're well-versed in the adventures of Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Harley Quinn and their friends. Part of the fun is playing dress-up, and while we're big on that any day, the Halloween season throws the door wide open for some junior cosplay fun. This year, DC Comics is encouraging your #GetYourCapeOn and share your kids' DC Superhero Girls costumes (yes, Beast Boy and Flash are also welcome). Parents can upload their child's picture, then customize it with frames and add it to a special Halloween gallery. I actually shared one of The Rock Daughters™ from the spring of 2016 when the DC Super Hero Girls first launched...
It's showtime! Next year will mark 30 years since Beetlejuice first haunted theaters, and this month The Rock Father™ and Entertainment Earth are getting a head start on the celebration by giving readers a chance to win a new Funko Dorbz Beetlejuice figure from Tim Burton's BEETLEJUICE! As part of 31 Days of Halloween 2017, you could own this 3" version of Michael Keaton's mischievous ghost in a form that's just too adorable to be scary!
Doctor Dreadful has been kicking around for the better part of a quarter century at this point - encouraging kids to experiment with all things gross & gooey. When he first hit the scene in the early 90s, he looked and sounded suspiciously like actor John Kassir (Tales From The Crypt) as he touted his line of terrifying toys produced by the late TYCO. After changing hands a few times over the years, Doctor Dreadful's wares eventually made their way to Spin Master, who's been producing them for a few years now, most recently revamping them with some disgustingly-delightful new packaging and branding - perfect for capturing the imagination of children. Released just in-time for Halloween, the refreshed assortment of Doctor Dreadful ZOMBIES toys have just hit shelves, and the folks at Spin Master sent us the Zombie Lab, Snot Shots and Parasite Lab kits to go hands-on with my budding "Mad Scientists" here at Rock Father HQ! What kind of eerie edibles could we create?
