I was just browsing the toy department of my local Meijer store the other night when I came across Hasbro's new collection of BLACK PANTHER toys in the wild for the first time. As with most of their Marvel-based collections, this one has the usual action figures and vehicles paired with an assortment of cool role play items. What's interesting this time around is that the "Black Panther Vibranium Hero Gear" just received its own commercial, and aside from a few Star Wars items, we usually don't see too many proper commercials for the role play gear. Check the new spot out below via Hasbro's YouTube Channel, and look for these toys and more in stores everywhere!
On Friday, December 22, there's a new Netflix Original Series making its debut that's a perfect binge for the holiday break. THE TOYS THAT MADE US is an all-new look at some of the most iconic toy lines of all-time, and they're rolling out the first season with some heavy hitters. While it's not embeddable (yet), a full trailer just launched on Netflix (see it here), and in honor of the release of STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, a special sneak-preview of the Star Wars episode was released as well (see that below). In fact, amid all that vintage Kenner glory, you just might see a shot of yours-truly when the episode streams this Friday. I provided them with something that may be in there, but that's just a tiny piece of the overall puzzle. From Hasbro's G.I. Joe & Transformers to Mattel's Barbie and He-Man and The Masters of the Universe, there's a lot of history about to be told, with additional season one episodes set to focus on Hello Kitty, Star Trek and LEGO.
I'm all about recognizing those that are doing good, and while I work on my own, hyper-local Rock Father Santa Holiday Toy Delivery Program during the Holiday season, it's always great to see what the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is accomplishing nationwide. Sadly, I've heard that their donations have been light the past few years (something I ran into here last year), but this year they're getting a big boost, and it comes from the good folks at Hasbro. For 2017, Hasbro has unveiled a new holiday matching campaign that will bring joy to even more children in need. For every new, unwrapped toy or game donated by individuals to any Toys for Tots local campaign through the 2017 holiday season, Hasbro will also donate a new toy or game as part of its BE FEARLESS BE KIND philanthropic initiative, up to one million gifts!
As expected, Marvel Studios' THOR: RAGNAROK lit up the box office during the early days of November, ushering in a heroic start to the holiday movie season. Like the films that have preceded it in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the latest installment is joined by a full line of toys from Hasbro, and among them are a fresh assortment of role-play items and interactive figures. To celebrate the release of the film, Hasbro sent over an assortment for review, and The Rock Daughters™ were more than happy to crack them open for some new adventures. Check out the review and unboxing video below!
The theatrical release of Rian Johnson's STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is fast-approaching, and of all the new characters and creatures that have been revealed, I don't think there's another with more buzz than the porgs. These little birdlike creatures are inhabitants of Ahch-To, the island where Luke Skywalker has been hanging out for a bit, and what we know of them so far is that Chewbacca seems to bond with the creatures. Already spawning some adorable merchandise and an upcoming book, Chewie and the Porgs, now comes news that they'll get the 6" action figure treatment from Hasbro this spring. The crew over at Hasbro just sent over an official photo of the porgs, announced this weekend at the MCM London Comic-Con.
On September 22, RCA will release the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack for MY LITTLE PONY: THE MOVIE, and today we've got the official music video for Sia's new track, "Rainbow." Sung by Sia’s character, Songbird Serenade, in the upcoming film (in theaters October 6), the official video for the song was directed by Daniel Askill, featuring Maddie Ziegler, with choreography by Ryan Heffington. Check it out below...
