When the teaser trailer for MARVEL's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 arrived back in December, I was one of the people quick to deem the new "Baby Groot" as "Toddler Groot." I also said that "toddler Groot is gonna be the toy that kids want," and behold, Hasbro is answering the call. With Toy Fair in New York happening shortly, new toys are starting to emerge, and the folks at Hasbro just sent over the full details on their MARVEL GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL. 2 DANCING GROOT Figure!
MARVEL Studios and Sony Pictures will release Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7, and ahead of the movie comes the toys. This week, Hasbro revealed a sneak-preview of what they'll be rolling out this spring, serving up a refreshed line of action figures, vehicles and playsets in support of the film. From this initial preview, the Spidey stuff looks a lot more appealing than the last few lines, with the 6" action figures sporting a movie look, the "Spidey Racer" vehicle including a NERF dart feature (akin to recent Star Wars vehicles), and some pretty cool playsets.
Over the past few months, I've found Codemasters' Micro Machines mobile game for iOS to be highly entertaining. Bringing the classic idea of Hasbro's Micro Machines into the video game world with race tracks and courses based on the real world - playing Micro Machines on your kitchen table, floors, a pool table, and more - it's been big fun at small scale. Now comes news that the action is getting bigger, and in HD. Micro Machines World Series is racing onto Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC this April, and I've got the trailer and game details for you below...
Yesterday, Instagram user ulrichlulu posted what may have been the first-ever picture of the new Galen Erso action figure from Hasbro's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story collection. Reposted by actor Mads Mikkelsen on his official channels this morning, the folks at Hasbro got in touch with an official product shot that I'm excited to share with you today. Check out the new 3.75" action figure below!
It's hard to believe that it's already been ten years since Michael Bay's first TRANSFORMERS film hit theaters, but this summer the adventure continues when Paramount Pictures releases Transformers: The Last Knight on June 23, 2017. A new film means spinning things back to where it all began with some new toys from Hasbro, and two of the new ones just made their debut at the Hong Kong Toy Fair. Check out two beautiful new versions of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee below!
This morning, Hasbro has announced the MONOPOLY Token Madness Vote (#MonopolyVote), which leaves the fate of all eight current and classic MONOPOLY tokens - including the Scottie Dog- in the hands of the fans for the first time. From now through January 31, 2017, MONOPOLY fans can visit a special website to cast their vote for which eight tokens they’d like to see in the next MONOPOLY game. The field this year is a big one, with 64 tokens in the running (see them all on my Facebook page), including the current eight tokens and 50+ new contenders. This means, that for the first time ever, all eight current tokens could get voted out of the game. Since Charles Darrow first created MONOPOLY back in 1933, a total of 20 different tokens have appeared in standard editions of the game, but never before have they been completely voted out at once. As the original tokens were originally reflective of 1930s America, a 2017 edition of the game could reflect the modern world in which we now live.
