I covered NEW YEARS DAY extensively in my last gig a couple years back. In fact, my friend Rob LOVES NYD (check out his tag for frontwoman Ash Costello for all his coverage), and I’ve heard so much about them that it almost seems that I’m required to give them a little virtual ink here in the “For Grownups” section of The Rock Father. That said, Century Media will release VICTIM TO VILLAIN, the new record from NEW YEARS DAY on June 11. Check out the cover art, tracklisting, and some thoughts from Ash below…

“When we hit the studio with Erik Ron to start writing last summer, the theme and idea for this album came almost immediately. I was dealing with so much at that point in my life and I felt like I had to make a choice to wake up in the morning and stop being the victim to it all and start owning my power and let my inner villain come out. The album follows that story, the transformation, and the satisfying vengeance that comes along with it. The direction is heavier and darker but still has that hauntingly weird and fun vibe that we have become known for. We have so much in store visually to go along with the record, especially between now and the Warped Tour – this tour is going to become known as the ‘death of the party’!” Ash Costello
