You Should Help Make the New NERF HERDER Album…

Published:

This article is more than 10 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

Here’s the deal: Crowdfunding projects (Kickstarter, IndieGoGo, etc) being featured here on THE ROCK FATHER has been sort of an issue these past few years, so much so that I’ve had a few people try jamming them down my throat for potential coverage to the point where I decided that “crowdfunding is not news.” In fact, I have said many times that “no matter what the project, at the end of the day, approaching me to post a ‘news item’ on a Kickstarter (or similar) effort is asking me to help someone that I don’t know ask other people (my readers) for money.” So I don’t do it anymore… unless I get paid to do so. But tonight, I’m going to break my own rules (something I can do since I own this joint), and I’m going to post about a crowdfunding project, a “Pledgemusic” campaign, to be specific – one that I was never even pitched – just because I want to. NERF HERDER is on a mission to make a new record, and YOU should be a part of it.

Now, I could’ve said that you “can” be a part of it, but notice that I said “should.” A new album from NERF HERDER is a noble cause, and 8% of all funds raised will go to benefit Brain Tumor Research – another noble cause.

Who is this NERF HERDER, you ask?

I won’t fault you for being unfamiliar with NERF HERDER, so I’ll give you a brief overview. Like STAR WARS? Well, then you should know the scruffy-looking name. Have kids? Well, then there’s likely chance that you’ve heard the music of NERF HERDER frontman PARRY GRIPP, who’s done music like the “DJ Shuffle” for DISNEY JUNIOR, or the viral classics “Justin Bieber and Spaghetti Cat” and “Baby Monkey (Going Backwards on a Pig)”. But NERF HERDER has a long legacy of fine music in the pop-punk realm, starting with the 1996 release of their self-titled album… the one that spawned the hit, “Van Halen.” But they didn’t stop there, oh no – they continued making fine rock for many years, but it’s been about six years since we’ve received a proper album. That’s where you come in…

Give NERF HERDER your money.

Unlike many crowdfunding exercises, this one starts with a pre-order of the album, which is always my favorite way to go about these things. Drop $10 or $15 now, get the album when it’s done… you’re just buying in advance. Have $5,000 to spend? They’ll take that, too – and they’ll write a song about you. I need an official theme song for THE ROCK FATHER television series that I haven’t been pitching, so that’s tempting.

But seriously, give NERF HERDER a follow and a like on twitter and Facebook, and then see if you dig ’em. And then, give them your money.
