Among the more unexpectedly-cool items to arrive in the world of STAR WARS collectibles this past year are the Nesting Dolls that PPW Toys has been putting out. After successful “Old Trilogy” collections including themed sets for The Empire, The Rebellion, Jabba’s Palace and a Jedi & Droids batch, J.J. Abrams’ record-breaking STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS has now received the nesting doll treatment. Available now from Entertainment Earth, PPW’s first collection from the new trilogy includes BB-8, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron and Kylo Ren. Having previously-reviewed The Rebellion set here on THE ROCK FATHER Magazine, I was excited when PPW had these sent over… but truth be told, it’s really our own little Finn who has really become enamored with the nesting dolls, incorporating them into her regular STAR WARS play with big sister Addie.
Made of plastic, these nesting dolls are just such a simple, classic toy, they work well for collectors to display, or for kids to use for stacking and learning… just as dolls of this kind have been for hundreds of years.
Personally, I like re-enacting scenes from THE FORCE AWAKENS.
