Review – Skylanders Imaginators: Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack

This article is more than 8 years old and may not have been updated since our last site redesign. It may contain outdated information or could be missing images.

When the first two Skylanders games were released, I played them both (and reviewed the first, Spyro’s Adventure, six years ago), but our girls were too young to get in on the action. When the sixth installment of the franchise, Skylanders Imaginators, was announced last year, I thought that the craze had passed us by, but then two things happened: The Netflix Original Series Skylanders Academy, and the release of the Nintendo Switch. The former introduced the kids to a world that they became enamored with, and the latter offered up a new platform to use – one where I was able to go hands-on thanks to some preview events. Then the folks at Activision hooked us up with a Starter Pack for Xbox One, and enthusiasm for Skylanders officially took hold, just in-time for the release of the latest expansion, the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack.

Released this week and sent to Rock Father HQ for review, the Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack includes Master Wild Storm figure (a Sensei of the Water Class with Knight skills), an Imaginite Mystery Chest (with 80 new parts), and a green Life Creation Crystal. The appeal of the Toys-to-Life gaming category is multi-faceted, with the idea of getting physical characters into the digital world the big hook, but the figures themselves are hugely popular with kids and collectors alike since they look great on display, or are fun to play with sans-game… which is what our youngest daughter loves to do. Master Wild Storm “is mighty,” she tells me.

Cursed Tiki Temple Review

What’s great about Imaginators is the ability to craft unique characters using the Life Creation Crystals, so the inclusion of a new one in this set is a good thing. We’ve already created characters based on each member of our family (mine is “The Rock Father”) that have now been taken through the Cursed Tiki Temple, which my youngest daughter and I beat (on the easiest level) in one afternoon. Like any Skylanders level, there’s a ton of replay value in trying to locate all the hidden goodies and complete all the challenges within.

Master Wild Storm

As the name suggests, the Cursed Tiki Temple has an island flair, and you’ll be battling characters that look straight outta the tropics, all with the ultimate goal of giving Kaos a run for his magical money. If you’re playing Skylanders Imaginators and loving it as we are, you’ll definitely want to pick this up. The Cursed Tiki Temple Level Pack carries a suggested retail price of $29.99, and is available at many major retailers now.
