“They’ve been called ‘rowdy, raunchy, gut-level rockers,’ and ‘the next band that everybody tries to copy,'” declared VJ Adam Curry ahead of an MTV broadcast of Guns N’ Roses’ February 2, 1988 performance at The Ritz in New York City.

The legendary concert, shot and directed by the late Scott Kalvert (The Basketball Diaries, Deuces Wild) has been making the rounds for decades, most recently on YouTube where multiple copies exist. While most have been fuzzy, blurry, copy-of-a-copy-of-a-copy dupes from VHS to digital, a handful of remastered versions exist, the best of which surfaced via WTFMusic in April 2023 — complete with two bonus songs and the credits from the original broadcast.

Crank up the volume and press play on the video below to see GNR take the stage, fueled by the growing success of Appetite for Destruction.
