One of the coolest perks of being a music reviewer? Getting a ton — and I do mean a ton — of new stuff to check out. It’s like finding a rainbow with a never-ending pot o’ gold at the end. Even better, it’s a chance to discover bands that weren’t even on your radar.
Case in point: Harvested and their new self-released album, Dysthymia (out now). This album doesn’t just hit hard — it grinds your bones into powder and bakes the giant’s bread. Fifty shades of vicious, and it never lets up from start to finish.
It opens with the one-two punch of “Harvested” and “Repressed Neurosis” — tracks that’ll punch you in the face and kick you in the nether regions. These are the kind of songs that break windows and blow doors off their hinges — and somehow, you’ll thank them for it.
My favorite? “Gathered and Deluded.” Remember that scene in The Final Conflict where Damien Thorn commands the hounds with “Take him!”? Yeah, it’s like that. Hundo-P. Love it from the jump.
Then comes a Jordan-level three-peat with “Voices of the Void,” “Unanchored,” and closer “The Infestation.” Together, they cement the fact that Dysthymia is one of the year’s best metal records. That’s not an opinion — it’s law. Harvested brought the goods, and then some.
Standout Tracks: All of them
