REVOCATION Raises Hell With ‘New Gods, New Masters’

Published:

Blistering, brutal, and utterly essential — the band proves they’ve still got it.

Holee hell on rye bread — REVOCATION are back, and their new album New Gods, New Masters (out now via Metal Blade Records) is an absolute monster. Believe me when I tell you: this one belongs in your ears ASAP.

It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing a REVOCATION record, so this is a treat. From the jump, blistering riffs from Dave Davidson and Harry Lannon pummel you into submission. That title track alone? A straight-up statement of intent.

“Sarcophagi of the Soul” made me want to torch the neighborhood (relax, I didn’t), while “Confines of Infinity” ups the ante with a vocal cameo from Travis Ryan of CATTLE DECAPITATION. “Dystopian Vermin” takes things even higher thanks to Alex Weber’s thunderous bass and Ash Pearson’s ferocious drumming.

Then you’ve got “Despiritualized” leaning into an old-school vibe, “The All Seeing” blasting you into next week, and “Data Corpse” hitting like an instant favorite. And don’t even get me started on “Cronenberged,” featuring Jonny Davy of JOB FOR A COWBOY — pure carnage.

Closing track “Buried Epoch” stretches past seven minutes of epic greatness, sealing the deal with a perfect finale.

Bottom line: New Gods, New Masters is fiery, heavy, and melodic in all the right places. REVOCATION have outdone themselves, and you’ll have this one on repeat for a long time to come.

STANDOUT TRACKS: All of them
RATING: 10/10
