I still remember searching the web for info relating to the STAR WARS prequels like it was yesterday. The excitement was something unique, but I think the new excitement surrounding what Disney and Lucasfilm are doing with the STAR WARS galaxy is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. Hot off the announcement of more cast for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII and the first stand-alone spin-off comes news of another stand-alone film, this one to be directed by Josh Trank (CHRONICLE), who is currently helming MARVEL’s reboot of THE FANTASTIC FOUR.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to STAR WARS, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm

While STAR WARS: EPISODE VII continues production in Abu Dhabi under the direction of J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams, announcements related to these stand-alone films are really heating up…

“The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”Josh Trank

Sadly, I have yet to get the call from Lucasfilm to direct or appear in any of the new STAR WARS films. I do have a little experience.
