At The Walt Disney Company’s annual shareholder’s meeting this morning, CEO Robert Iger made a few announcements that are bound to excite movie fans young and old. The biggest comes from the company’s PIXAR arm, with CARS 3 and long-requested THE INCREDIBLES 2 (with Director Brad Bird returning) in-development. On the galaxy far, far away note, Iger says that the Lucasfilm production of STAR WARS: EPISODE VII will take place 30 years after the events of RETURN OF THE JEDI, with “some very familiar faces along with a trio of new leads,” according to the folks at THR. But that’s not all that was announced…
Iger points to an “unprecedented pipeline” that will include a TOMORROWLAND movie starring George Clooney, and a live-action CINDERELLA, which in my opinion, would expand well upon the forthcoming MALEFICENT, which stars Angelina Jolie as the title character and SLEEPING BEAUTY villain. Speaking of which, the new trailer for that film arrived today.

Finally, FROZEN (read my review here) is out on Blu-ray and DVD today, and is close to surpassing TOY STORY 3 to claim the throne of “Biggest Animated Film of All-Time.”
