I really can’t express enough just how much I love DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD. When I first got word that the legacy of MISTER ROGERS NEIGHBORHOOD would continue through this production from The Fred Rogers Company, I was excited, but since it’s premiere on PBS KIDS in 2012, this show has really become such a fixture here, and it just feels special. While I was attending the PBS Annual Meeting in San Francisco earlier this month, attendees were excited to learn that not only has a new grant helped to fund a second season of DANIEL TIGER’S NEIGHBORHOOD, but Daniel is about to become a big brother…
On August 18th, 2014, The Neighborhood of Make-Believe will welcome the arrival of Daniel Tiger’s little sister Margaret, with a one-hour special event, “Big Brother Daniel.” While a second season and a new little sister are certainly exciting, being in San Francisco with Daniel offered up the unique opportunity to do a little sight-seeing… THE ROCK FATHER and DANIEL TIGER’s BIG SAN FRANCISCO ADVENTURE. After all, shouldn’t this little trolley aficionado get to see where the real trolleys come from?
Daniel Tiger and I headed down to Market and Powell for a bit, which I posted on Instagram…

We took in the atmosphere of the business district for a bit…
And then we grabbed some some lunch at SUPER DUPER BURGERS before heading for SFO and boarding “The Air Trolley,” which was a Virgin America flight back to Chicago…
Daniel did good on the Air Trolley, buckling in, getting up to go to the washroom (“If you have to go potty, stop and go right away”), and then arriving in Chicago to realize that 39 degrees is a big difference from the 96 we left… especially when you don’t wear pants.
