The holiday season is an important time here at Rock Father HQ. I often write about holiday traditions, activities and of course, my annual Holiday Wish Guide™. For many families, their wish is simple – to have a roof over their heads and food on the table. The Salvation Army Chicago can help with that – serving communities in Chicago, Northern Illinois, and Lake County, Indiana by providing emergency financial assistance, grocery assistance through local food pantries; educational and recreational programs for children, adults and seniors; in addition to leadership training and character development programs for youth. One thing we make very clear to our daughters is that the season is one of giving, and whenever we see the familiar Red Kettle, The Rock Daughters™ drop some coins and often get a chance to ring the bell.
For our family, giving back through the Red Kettle is a frequent one throughout the season, but we also contribute through the local food pantry, by purchasing gifts for the Angel Tree at the girls’ school, and perhaps most famously – though my own #RockFatherSanta Holiday Toy Delivery that’s helped provide gifts to our immediate community over the past four seasons. We’ll be doing all of those over the course of the next two months, and I hope that many of you will take the opportunity to do the same within your means.
This season, #DoGoodChicago – help The Salvation Army help your neighbors. Donations of cash or food are appreciated, but there are so many ways to give. The Salvation Army Chicago website has all the details on how you can participate – from hosting an Online Kettle, to being a Bell Ringer, purchasing gifts for an Angel Tree, donating food, or making a monetary donation to help a family in need.
Christmas has an Army, and you can help to join the fight!
